Windows Update 23H2

Context

Windows has always been the go-to operating system for people who need long-term support and have specific requirements. However, Windows does not support some file formats like.7z,.tar.gz, and.rar, which are common file formats, especially when the files are coming from a foreign OS like Linux.

Story

This is going to be fixed now, after 40 years in the 23H2 update (commencing September 23). They are using a GitHub library called libarchive, which adds support for these formats.   Despite using this library, not all formats that are supported by the library will be supported by Windows.
